fight is the 22th single of YUI, released on September 2012.
Ok, I just start the review saying this: "fight" is the worst single YUI released EVER! Her Oricorn ranking is awfull!. She didn't get 4th place since Rolling Star and even her earlier releases who got 15 place were better than "fight" in terms of music. For example, TOKYO had 15th place on the Oricon charts and became one of her most beloved songs. Ok, now, let's get started:
01. fight
For me, fight is just boring! I could end like that because the music doesn't have any special effect in me but, let me say some things. First, we have to refer the good points of the song: the song was made for a choir contest so it's bound to be a calm one and, I don't have nothing against calm musics. Second, it's a catchy song and it's enjoyable to sing along. Third, the lyrics are amazing! We have to give that to YUI. She always write amazing lyrics. Now, for the bad points: as I said before, the music is boring! Even if it was a choir song, she (or whomever composes the song) could jazz it a bit. If you're singing along, you'll hear it but, if you're just listening to it, you'll pass to the next song. I don't like the PV and I don't like the way they released accoustic version first and the rest of the world couldn't see the original version to a couple days ago. I don't like this song and, to say the truth, I almost hate it. Done!
02. if you
if you it's the B-side of the song and the best in the single. For me, if you tries despairingly to save the single from fight flop but it's useless when the title song is so bad. I can't find flaws on if you. Maybe I can't talk about this song because I love YUI's rock side but, for me, it's the song who turns the single almost worth buying. On my standarts, if you it's a little below tonight (another song I love). I love her voice in the song and would gladly hear it all day long! Another great B-side from YUI!
03. Happy Birthday to you you ~ Accoustic version
A lot of YUI fans got mad when they knew about this BIG mistake. Compared to fight I don't really mind this track. I like her Accoustic versions (yes, even fight accoustic version) and I wouldn't mind if she would put merry go around (music from 2006) accoustic version in it. I said BIG mistake because it's a bad move to put it on this single which really needed a saving. So - I don't know - maybe a Lock On accoustic version would be more eye catching for those who were unsure whether to buy ot not. It's a good track either way. I like it.
04. fight ~ Instrumental
I actually like this track so, what's wrong with fight song? I don't know. Maybe the instrumentals just don't go well with her voice or the PV just ruined it to me. Maybe it was because I heard it so many time before the single was released...I don't know, but I really don't like fight.
So, in conclusion, fight was a big flop on YUI's career. It was poorly advertised and it took too long to be released. After 10 months without releasing new stuff, the tittle song isn't strong enough to be a tittle song, the accoustic version isn't fresh and, the only reason you would buy is because you're a big fan or you want if you. With this, I finish my review.
Once again, this is my opinion. I hope I didn't offend anyone in anyway.
